Working Horse Cow Clinic
On Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October, Yarraman Training Stables held a successful working horse cow clinic enjoyed by all participants. On Saturday, Andrew demonstrated his breaking techniques with a young horse, and things he believes a young horse needs to further it's training. He demonstrated some dry work and the correct handling needed on a horse, so as to train the horse on a cow more effectively. The participants then worked the mechanical cow, and Andrew showed how he likes to start a green horse on a mechanical cow and how to also work an older horse on a mechanical cow.On Sunday, the participants went over the foundations they had learnt from the previous day. They started to work cattle and were taught how to have correct positioning to work a horse on a cow, and the advantages of having a good handle and pattern on your horse which was established on the mechanical cow.The feedback Yarraman Training Stables received from the participants was that they thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and found it to be extremely beneficial.
They have requested a follow up weekend in the near future, to further continue working on their horsemanship skills.
Some pictures of the weekend are displayed below.
Clinic : Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 March 2010
‘Well done for another fantastic clinic, I thoroughly enjoyed Saturday and felt that I got a huge amount out of it. I am so proud of my horse and totally thrilled at how well she is going. Thank you so much Andrew she is a real credit to you! Mal had an absolute ball on Sunday, I'd say great company and common interests being shared!!!
I think he would be interested to do a clinic himself next time -when he has a horse ready!’
