‘Pepped up Spin’ was purchased by Yarraman Training Stables in 2007. We first noticed the horse at the trainers place being used to lead in season broodmares out to the paddock. This was an amazing sight, something you don’t see every day, the temperament of this colt is one of the major factors for the purchase.

Yarraman Training Stables strives to improve the progeny produced and a key factor to this is the depth of breeding in your stallion and broodmares. ‘Pepped up Spin’ is as close to a perfectly bred Australian horse as you’ll get. His pedigree is as strong as you can get with proven performers and producers all the way through his sire and dams sides.

His sire, ‘Peptos Stylish Oak’ (IMP) was shown in 2001 in the NCHA derby to 3rd place and the highest scoring stallion, he is shuttled between Australia and the USA for breeding. His offspring earnings is over $250,000, his sire ‘Peptoboonsmal’ has lifetime earnings of $180,487US and offspring earnings over $7,000,000US, his mother Royal Blue Boon has produced some of the greatest horses ever to be shown in the cutting pen.

His dam, ‘Spin N Pep’ was un-shown, but her sire Doc’s Spinifex is the greatest sire Australia will ever see, he’s record and his offspring’s  performance will never be matched.

‘Angel Spin’ a full sister in blood to ‘Spin N Pep’, has reached the final in many aged events, with L.T.E $9,540 , she is trained and shown by Fred Johnston, her dam ‘Colonels Destiny’ was the highest scoring horse in the 1st go-round in her futurity year.

‘Spin N Peps’ dam ‘Cuttabar Bitsy’ was heavily shown in the mid 90’s with AQHA points in halter, reining, trail and western pleasure. Her sire ‘Cuttabars Colonel’ (IMP) L.T.E $24,000, has AQHA points in cutting, general performance, reining, register of merit in cutting and performance, a superior horse in cutting and a bronze century in cutting. ‘Cuttabar Bitsys’ dam ‘Bit a Bep’ (IMP) L.T.E $1,811US with limited showing also has points in cutting and performance. Her full brother produced a world champion in cutting and performance.

‘Pepped up Spin has all the attributes you look for in a sire; breeding, temperament, conformation, performance. We have foals on the ground by him and all show his temperament, and he has a blue roan filly in the NCHA futurity this year. He has been lightly shown to date and is rarely out of placing, major achievement to date are 1st place novice at Argyle, Tamworth 2007, 2nd 10,000 novice, 4th 3,500 novice at Bribbaree 2008, 5th 3,500 novice at Yass, 4th 3,500 novice at Tumut, he will be heavily shown in 2008/2009.

He has a bay roan filly ‘Radically Pepped Up’, being haltered and has performed well to date with; Yearling lunge 1st place, Open mare class 5th place, Yearling trail 1st place, Yearling Halter Futurity 2nd place, Yearling trail 2nd place, Yearling lunge 3rd place, B.V.Q.H.A Runner Up Highpoint Yearling. All shows were held at Benella, Victoria.

‘Pepped up Spin’ is bred in the purple, the depth is endless, performer after performer, producer after producer, champion after champion.

Both the trainer and myself are looking forward to riding his progeny, we have weanlings, yearlings and broken two year olds for sale.

Comments from Trainer – Troy Randell

I took over training Pepped up Spin in his 3 yr old year and although started late I don’t think I have ridden a horse that was so progressive with his training. There wasn’t a day where he went backwards. ‘ Norman’ as he is known around our stables for his laid back attitude, so much so, he is used for everything on our 700 acre farm.

One job is leading breakers around and this could be leading a 17hh sour thoroughbred down to a 2 yr old Quarterhorse, he handles anything that’s thrown at him.

He shows all the attributes you look for in a good horse and this doesn’t just apply to cutting. He has a very trainable mind with a big stop, big sweeping move, excellent gait, intelligence and a versatile physique.

I have bred all my mares to him as I believe with his ability and breeding he is the making of an excellent sire, on both top and bottom sides he is from a long list of performing families.

We already have young stock on the ground by him and have started breaking in the eldest of them.

Everyone so far have been extremely quiet but still with the feel you need to have in a competitive horse.
